Just when I had made the statement in “mandarin silver lake” that its best to photograph these colourful birds in a monochrome background – I find myself being hypocritical as I do LOVE this most glorious of colourful photos.
Daisies are monochrome and are very difficult to hold the detail of these little flowers on a sunny day. Thankfully these daisies were complimented by some blue flowers dotted about on the grass where the mandarin decided to have a rest.
He was a placid little fellow as he saw me approach with my camera. Mandarins can be shy and quick to move with the approach of a photographer. As they say in photography – respect your subject and they will respect you. Slowly and surely I approached the mandarin with no sudden movements.
The result being a vibrant green of the grass, the spectrum of colour of the mandarin and a very relaxed subject in the photo.
