The red coloured male chaffinch is a very sleek little individual. He has a hover which lends to a great wing shape when photographed at the right time. gb10002

The male chaffinch has an elegance which surpasses most of the garden birds that I photograph. This wing shape was a special photo for me as it shows the split second wing shape that the camera can capture. gb10004
As I always note - "a birds wing shape is EVERYTHING" in birds in flight photography. To see the parallel lines of the wing shape and the elegance of the bird and the detail in the face of the bird is everything to me as a wildlife photographer. gb10005

This was my first ever sighting and first ever photograph of a greenfinch. He seems to have an angry face or maybe its just a determined expression. I love his wing shape and his greenish gold feathers. gb10011
